The esteemed mayor of N’Djamena, Mr. Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, led a significant delegation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, to inspect the damaged Hilton executive site. This critical visit underscores the city’s proactive measures in flood prevention efforts.

Mr. Gadengar Roasna Rodrigue, the Director of Urban Planning for the central municipality, emphasized the strategic importance of the Hilton executive site for N’Djamena. He explained that this vital infrastructure is designed to channel rainwater effectively towards the river. Crucially, it also plays a pivotal role in preventing river waters from inundating the city during periods of heavy flooding.

Currently, the structure has sustained minor damage, particularly to its protective flap, which is essential for safeguarding against riverine floods. Despite this, Mr. Rodrigue assured that several preparatory activities are already underway in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season.

During the on-site inspection, Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye issued unequivocal directives to the roads department. He mandated that all necessary actions be taken to ensure the swift repair of the compromised flap within the coming days, highlighting the urgency of maintaining N’Djamena’s flood defenses.
