Sonko mourns loss of Guinguinéo’s Mouride leader Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké
The President of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, conveyed his heartfelt condolences following the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the esteemed Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, which occurred on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
In a Facebook post, he honored the late religious leader’s legacy and extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, the General Khalife of the Mouride Brotherhood, and the entire Senegalese people.
« With profound sorrow and deep emotion, I learned of the return of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké to the mercy of God, the Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo, » Sonko wrote.
Reflecting on his personal interactions with the revered figure, the National Assembly President recalled multiple encounters during his visits to Guinguinéo. « During each of these meetings, he extended a warmth and kindness that left a lasting impression on us, » Sonko shared.
In this « sorrowful moment, » Ousmane Sonko offered his « most sincere condolences » to the late leader’s family, the General Khalife of the Mourides, the Guinguinéo religious community, and the people of Senegal.
« May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal paradise, » he concluded.
