World Vision Tchad has rolled out its bold national strategy for 2026-2030, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to transforming the lives of children across the country. The initiative, unveiled during a high-level press conference in N’Djamena, sets an ambitious target: improving the well-being of 3.29 million children by 2030, with a special focus on reaching 3.09 million of the most vulnerable.

Building futures through integrated action

The strategy is built on a robust framework combining humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding—an approach known as the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus. This holistic vision aims to address the root causes of childhood vulnerability while responding to immediate needs. During the launch event, the Regional Director for West Africa, Carla Dominique Denizard, described the initiative as both bold and innovative, emphasizing that it reflects a deep understanding of Chad’s unique challenges.

Denizard highlighted how critical partnerships, community engagement, and cultural sensitivity are to the strategy’s success. She stressed that the organization’s mission in West and Central Africa is not just about survival—it is about enabling every child in fragile contexts to thrive. The region faces persistent threats, including insecurity, deep-seated poverty, climate change impacts, and large-scale displacement, all of which disproportionately affect children.

The strategy aligns closely with continental and global development frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly those focused on poverty eradication, health, education, gender equality, clean water, climate action, and peace. Core priorities include strengthening human capital, expanding social protection, enhancing climate resilience, and scaling up literacy programs through the Unlock Literacy initiative.

From vision to impact: doubling down on vulnerable children

The Director of World Vision Tchad, Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, called the launch a historic moment for the organization and for the nation’s children. He noted that this strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, reflecting an unwavering commitment to transforming lives. “Our goal is clear: every child in Chad should not only survive but flourish,” he stated.

Wangoy also underscored the gravity of Chad’s social challenges. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the need for targeted interventions is urgent. The new strategy prioritizes integrated health and nutrition programs, with a strong focus on maternal and child health, universal access to quality education, and robust child protection systems. Additionally, it places climate resilience at the heart of community development, recognizing the growing threat posed by environmental degradation.

A call for collective action

Following the presentation, World Vision Tchad’s leadership issued a powerful appeal to all national stakeholders. They urged government agencies, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and media outlets to join forces in implementing this transformative agenda. Success, they emphasized, depends on a unified, collaborative effort to convert today’s challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children.

The 2026–2030 strategy is more than a roadmap—it is a promise. Through this initiative, World Vision Tchad aims to play a pivotal role in realizing the country’s Vision 2030 and fulfilling the Sustainable Development Goals.
