World Vision Tchad Outlines Bold 2030 Roadmap for Child Welfare

World Vision Tchad unveiled its ambitious 2026-2030 national strategy during a high-profile press conference in N’Djamena, drawing participation from media outlets, technical and financial partners, and government officials. The five-year roadmap targets 3.29 million children by 2030, including 3.09 million from the most vulnerable groups, through intensified interventions in health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

The initiative’s launch event took place at a local hotel in the capital, marking a pivotal moment for child welfare in the country. Carla Dominique Denizard, Regional Director for West Africa, emphasized the strategy’s innovative and bold nature, describing it as a holistic approach that bridges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding. “Every child in Chad deserves a life of abundance,” she stated, highlighting the importance of robust partnerships, community engagement, and cultural integration in achieving this vision.

Denizard underscored the pressing challenges facing the region—ranging from insecurity and multidimensional poverty to climate change impacts and mass displacement—all of which threaten children’s well-being. The strategy aligns with continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Chad’s Vision 2030. Key priorities include human capital development, social protection, climate adaptation, and the Unlock Literacy program to enhance early childhood education.

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the launch a “historic milestone” for the organization and the future of Chad’s children. He noted that the new strategy represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, with a clear goal: ensuring every child not only survives but thrives. “Our mission is simple yet bold,” he said. “By 2030, we aim to reach 3.29 million children, with a focus on those most in need.”

Ngoy Wangoy also highlighted Chad’s persistent challenges—poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and climate shocks—stressing that nearly 42% of the population lives below the poverty line. The strategy prioritizes integrated nutrition and health programs, with a special focus on maternal and child health, alongside efforts to combat violence against children and build community resilience.

The leadership concluded with a call to action, urging public authorities, technical partners, civil society, religious leaders, and media to collaborate in turning these challenges into sustainable opportunities for Chad’s children. The 2026-2030 roadmap is designed to align with Chad’s Vision 2030 and the SDGs, paving the way for a future where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
